It's been a while since I've had that standard sungrown wrapper stick, the Ashton VSG. The cost of those keeps me from pulling the trigger, however now there are other choices and Rocky's has been around for a few years now. It took me a while to get through my box of "Sixties" because they aren't my favorite size and the wrappers were fragile on that big stick. I always loved the flavor, however and now I have a box of the toros and they're just perfect. A low level spiciness that sometimes starts out more noticeable, but tones down to just what I was trying to say by the term low-level. Then theres a subtle sweetness and nuttiness that underpins the leather component which is sometimes noticeable and other times way back. This cigar is really interesting in a good way. These usually always burn nice too. I'd love to have a Ashton to compare, but I really don't think that overpriced stick would be any better than this even it was a different sungrown experience. I'll stick with RP's Sungrown Toro as my sungrown wrapper staple

I'm not a big RP fan anymore but I do have one of these that have been resting in my humidor. I plan on trying it as soon as the weather warms up. I hope mine is as good as the samples for the review.

I bought a 5 pack of the torpedos. 4 of the 5 had holes in them. They tasted great but i don't enjoy trying to plug holes while I'm smoking. I'll never purchase these again.

One of my favorite smokes of all time. I'm not saying they're better than a Padron 45, but considering you can get a half dozen of these for the price of one hammer, I'd say it's one of the best deals out there. Kinda surprised you liked it so much and combined with the value you didn't give it a 5 stogie rating, but glad you enjoyed them none-the-less.

Spoil yourself and smoke one of these. Better than any Cuban I have ever smoked. As far as aging goes, how much better can this get? Its like wanting a lamborghini to go 300mph instead of 250mph.If you can wait to age it go ahead, meanwhile Ill smoke mine.

I'm smoking a toro now which has been sitting in the humi for several months now. I am so far very impressed with the quality of this product. Smells nice for the women and maybe they'll lit one up, too. Lots of mocha jamoca flavors. 3 fillers from different countries and a Equadorian wrapper. Nice.
I don't know how old all these tobaccos are that he uses, but they have some age on them. It's a very smooth, but full flavored smoke. I don't know how much they cost now, but I will be checking it out.

i love most of the rocky patels i've tried. i smoked the big 6x60 about a month ago. the band stuck to the wrapper, which was disappointing because it started to unravel. but the smoke, flav, draw and aroma were top shelf. the burn needed a little evening out here and there. but it's definitely worth buying a box at a time.

Since I've had a few of these over the past week, I thought I'd chime in with my own impressions.

Simply put, Rocky Patel Sun Growns are spectacular. I never had any problems with construction, and -- as the review states -- the flavor is full and smooth but not overwhelming.
