Quick Smoke: Room 101 Conjura

3 Oct 2010

Each Saturday and Sunday we’ll post a Quick Smoke: not quite a full review, just our brief verdict on a single cigar of “buy,” “hold,” or “sell.”

Room 101 Conjura

I received this Room 101 Conjura “Harsh! LTD” at the Twitter Brothers of the Leaf event held during the IPCPR Trade Show in New Orleans. The slightly veiny rosado wrapper isn’t much to look at, but the box-pressed smoke is highly aromatic with strong barnyard notes. Once lit, the Conjura reveals a spicy blend with cinnamon and a creamy core. Meaty flavors are also prevalent, especially in the second half. This is a full-bodied smoke, but not with the knock-your-socks-off strength I thought I might be in for.

Verdict = Buy.

    Patrick,

    Just to clarify the "Harsh" written on the cigar…I was actually at the Camacho booth when it was written by Matt Booth himself on the cello. The cigar itself is the un-banded samples that were being handed out of the new Room 101 Conjura LTD. Matt personally signed all of the samples taken and passed out at the Twitter event. Just thought you might like to know…

    I should have taken a hint when Matt Booth referred to his cigars as 'dope'. The guy didn't know crap about cigars when Camacho approached him with these blends. I didn't like the original 101 cigar so I'm not sure why I bought this Conjura. It has a little bit of spice but almost has a stale hay flavor to it. For $9-$11, never gonna smoke it again. I smoked the largest size. These cigars are insanely overpriced because of all the marketing and hype. I can think of dozens of other cigars that are better for half the price. I can't give my money to a guy like Booth anymore, he's a complete tool in the industry. Sorry, my recommendation is don't buy.

    […] Room 101 Conjura Ltd: Matt Booth, the man behind Room 101, may be known for his flashy style, but his new Conjura blend has plenty of substance. The box-pressed line features a rustic rosado wrapper, a Honduran binder, and filler tobaccos from Nicaragua and the Dominican. It’s a savory smoke, with classic Honduran spice, leather, and a hint of graham sweetness. With excellent construction, fans of complex spice will want to seek out Conjura before the 50,000-cigar run sells out. […]

    […] Envy certainly has the structure to stand up to a full-bodied smoke. Recommended smokes include the Room 101 Conjura, Tatuaje Unicos, and San Lotano Habano. For those more Cuban-inclined, I’d go with the Ramón […]
