Quick Smoke: Tatuaje La Casita Criolla Corona Gorda

10 Aug 2013

Each Saturday and Sunday we’ll post a Quick Smoke: not quite a full review, just our brief verdict on a single cigar of “buy,” “hold,” or “sell.”

Tatuaje’s La Casita Criolla is a line I never really gave a fair chance, for one reason or another. So I recently decided to light up a Corona Gorda (5.6 x 46) that had been resting in my humidor for about six months. What I found was a cigar that burns well, produces ample aromatic resting smoke, and tastes of dry, gritty earth. Often sharp and sometimes a bit hot and harsh, this Connecticut broadleaf puro isn’t a bad smoke, but it probably won’t be working its way into my regular rotation anytime soon.

Verdict = Sell.

    Even though I consider myself a Tatuaje fan, this line is one I have never really enjoyed, either. Sometimes it seems that when you think outside the box you just end up … outside the box.

    IDK, i see these kind of reviews about the casita, dry gritty dirty ect. But the one i had was awsome, like incredible creaminess(think liga privada level), with a sweet cocoa/berry flavor that wasnt really complex but incredibly rich and thick.

    Granted it was only one, and from a shop so i have no idea the age(im thinking old either way though), but it was literally the exact oppoisite of what you described.

    Go figure lol
