Quick Smoke: Romeo y Julieta Reserve Maduro Robusto
Saturday, January 27th, 2007Each Saturday and Sunday we’ll post a Quick Smoke: not quite a full review, just our brief take on a single cigar.
I got a Romeo y Julieta Reserve Maduro Robusto in an Altadis sampler promotion several months ago. I’ll purchase more, even though it is a little pricey. The diverse blend combine to create a smooth, complex stick with a satisfying finish.
Verdict = Buy.

I always found the R y J maduro line a little salty.
Did you find this to be the case?
No, I don’t recall any salty taste. Of course, sometimes tastes are influenced by what we ate or drank before smoking and what we are having with the cigar. I think I was drinking diet ginger ale with this one.
Jack M,
For what it’s worth, I also found this cigar to be quite salty. But I also enjoyed it thoroughly.
I plan to do a full review of the Romeo y Julieta Reserve Maduro soon…

I’ll be really interested in seeing what you thought. I was looking for another the last time I was in a local B&M but they were out. Now I definitely going to have to get one to see if I pick up that salty taste.
Gotta agree with the masses here George. I enjoy the RyJ Maduro but agree on the salty tastes.
Diet Ginger Ale George? That must taste as good as Caffeine Free Diet Coke.
Hey, Jerry, when you’re pushing too many pounds, you’ve got to do what you can. Thank goodness, cigars have no calories!
[...] A few months ago, I wrote favorably about a Romeo y Julieta Reserve Maduro Robusto I enjoyed. Several readers, including Stogie Guy compatriot Patrick A., asked whether I’d noticed the salty taste that they said they commonly encountered with the dark RyJs. I hadn’t and vowed to smoke them again with that in mind. [...]
