Quick Smoke: Victor Sinclair Vintage Select Churchill

10 Jun 2007

Each Saturday and Sunday we’ll post a Quick Smoke: not quite a full review, just our brief take on a single cigar.

When I first lit up this seven inch by 50 ring gauge Dominican, I was a little concerned. The draw was tight, the burn was uneven, and the ash was anything but stable. But after about 15 minutes into this hour and ½ smoke – and after a few touchups with my matches – it really settled down into an above average cigar. Box-pressed and a bit spongy to the touch, the Bazilian maduro wrapper and Cuban-seed Dominican long-leaf tobaccos yield classic earthy flavors with a dash of spicy pepper. All things considered, every stogie enthusiast should at least give one of these a try. If you’re a fan, the Victor Sinclair Vintage Select is a great bargain at less than $3 per stick.

Verdict = Buy.

    Agreed. Anyone on a budget should give these a try. I think even George, who ran into some tough sticks in his "We Smoke 'Em so You Don't Have To" series, would be impressed with this $3 smoke.

    I went thru a box of coronas of these 2 yrs or so ago, and I just scored a bundle of Presidentes. A little sweet, a little nutty… Draw and burn are not always quite perfect. But for a buck fifty a pop, whadayya want? Life is just too expensive to be a chump going broke smoking over-priced cigars!

    BAD SMOKES… i went out on a limb and got a box, all the reviews i read said they were good cigars, i was highly disappointed, their taste was very very bitter, and just downright nasty, will never buy these again, but it did teach me a lesson.. NEVER buy a box of cigars without trying a few singles first… Do NOT recommend these at all… for a dollar more, ill just get onyx…
