Quick Smoke: Gurkha Vintage Torpedo
21 Jul 2007
Each Saturday and Sunday we’ll post a Quick Smoke: not quite a full review, just our brief take on a single cigar.
The Gurkha Vintage Torpedo is a pleasant looking cigar with an almost flawless Connecticut wrapper. Unfortunately, it didn’t taste as good as it looked. While the construction was impressive, the cigar had a strong chemical flavor. That flavor, combined with warm tobacco and hints of sweet hay, made for an unenjoyable smoke.
Verdict = Sell.

I purchased about 30 of the Gurkha Vintage Robustos and while most were fine, a few were a bit harsh and a few had an impossible draw.
Gurkha, do they make any smokes worth buying?
I have had a few of these and was not impressed. I also had a problem on all of them when I had to peel off the yellow band. It tore the wrapper basically ruining the cigar about half way through.
I bought these too and have found them awful.
I bought a box of these a year or so ago, and didn't care for them at all. They tasted moldy to me — sort of like when you take a bite out of a slice of bread to then notice that the loaf has mold on it. I smoked several of them, thinking it was just a bad cigar, but it seems the entire bundle was bad.
