Quick Smoke: Alec Bradley Tempus Terra Novo
24 Jan 2009
Each Saturday and Sunday we’ll post a Quick Smoke: not quite a full review, just our brief take on a single cigar.
This five inch by 50 ring gauge robusto-sized smoke features a dark, rustic, and veiny wrapper. It lights easily, imparting warm cedar notes with a touch of sweet honey and plenty of underlying spice. With an easy draw and an even burn, construction is good. The abundance of smoke is also notable. All around, it’s not hard to see why the Tempus has been so well received: It’s a medium- to full-bodied smoke with a unique, balanced, woody profile.
Verdict = Buy.

Buyer beware – the taste is fantastic but there have been numerous issues with the Tempus over it’s construction, draw and burn. I smoked close to 10 and had the same frustrating experience – really poor draw even with a poker, horrendous burn, etc. I bought them at several different local shops and even online. The Tempus is the most frustrating cigar I’ve ever smoked – even the folks at Holt’s admit to the burn and draw issues.
I love the taste, but it just took to much effort to smoke.
I liked this smoke. It was very smooth but robust. I would say overall a high medium body. The smoke is dense but not overpowering. I did encounter the burn problems. It went out on me a couple of times and I couldn't get the burn line to settle down. But overall a really respectable smoke. Check out my full review: http://wp.me/pSZbU-fT
