Quick Smoke: Indian Tabac Super Fuerte Natural Robusto

22 May 2010

Each Saturday and Sunday we’ll post a Quick Smoke: not quite a full review, just our brief verdict on a single cigar of “buy,” “hold,” or “sell.”

Rarely do I find a cigar so bad that I give up on it after smoking less than an inch or more. This was that rare case. A nice looking cigar, the Indian Tabac Super Fuerte Natural was hot, dry, and harsh with a taste reminiscent of stale cigarettes. The finish was long and unpleasant. One fundamental problem with this stick, and others I’ve tried, is that the roll is so open (I’m guessing to lower the amount of filler) that it’s almost impossible not to overheat.

Verdict = Sell.

    I have never been a big fan of Rockey Patel but it's funny that I just had a bad experience with an Olde World Reserve. The damn thing must have been dyed because it came off all over my lips. So I called RP to voice my concerns and as soon as I said dyed the phone was "disconnected". I tried to call back but it went to voice mail. I hope this is not whats in store for the EO Brands

    OOC, how many of these have you smoked? I know this is one of RP's "bargain catalog" smokes, but I find it hard to believe he'd put out complete crap. Some of the other ITC's of his I've had haven't been bad (can't remember what they were, but I still have the free humidor they came in).

    Crap, it cut off before I could change the previous post. Just remembered: IT Classic was the blend. And don't get me wrong, they weren't great smokes, but for the then-$1 a stick price I thought they were pretty good.

    I've probably smoked six or eight of these in various sizes over the years. I actually tried two for this quick smoke and found them both pretty much the same. I gave up on both in about an inch. Some may like this Super Fuerte, but it just isn't for me.
