Quick Smoke: Cohiba Pirámides Edición Limitada 2006 (Cuban)

2 Oct 2011

Each Saturday and Sunday we’ll post a Quick Smoke: not quite a full review, just our brief verdict on a single cigar of “buy,” “hold,” or “sell.”

Cohiba Pirámides Edición Limitada 2006 (Cuban)

Friday was my birthday, which seemed like a good reason to light up this well-constructed limited edition Cohiba. It had the quintessential characteristics of a Cuban cigar—sweet cocoa and earth—but in a more intense variety than any Habano I’ve smoked recently. It reminded me of a more focused version of the Montecristo Sublime. Though the $30 price tag is daunting, I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this cigar. It has continued to develop since I the last time I smoked it, and age has only improved this tasty smoke.

Verdict = Buy.

    Why even review Cubans? Especially when you say "buy". Sorry, buy I'm not in the habit of buying illegal cigars and having them shipped in. Sllly review. Always bugs me when CA does the same thing.

    Because contrary to popular belief, people other than American citizens smoke cigars. Also, acquiring cuban cigars is not like buying crystal meth. The embargo is an archaic law that only exists because it won't gain the current administration any more votes.

    Just another person which fits the stereotype that Americans are self-centered and not concerned with anyone but themselves.

    Sorry, I gassumed an overwhelming majority of your readers were American. Same with CA. If this is not true then you have a good point. And archaic law or not, it's still fact that we cannot get Cuban cigars here, so I would rather read about cigars I might want to try by going down to my local cigar shop. That's why I'm a fan of your blog, you help readers navigate through the hundreds of cigars out there and help support B&M's…..but if you are going to have the attitude that I'm selfish….wow, awfully big generalization by the way…..then I will get my info from the countless other stogies blogs out there.

    Not to be a dick but why are you putting limited edition cigars from years ago as a "Buy"? Yes, I would to "buy" one of these but they haven't been available for years. This is irresponsible and it just makes people mad who read this. You've done that twice recently with the Partagas and now this. Are you trying to flaunt the fact you have rare cigars? Whatever the reason it's not appreciated to those of us who can't get these cigars.

      Buy, Hold & Sell "recommendations" is terminology we borrowed from stock picks, so you don't need to take them literally (especially if doing so is nearly impossible). Really "Buy" just means we liked it, "Hold" means so-so and "Sell" means we weren't fans.

      Ultimately, we want people to find our articles informative and entertaining. How you use the information we share is everyone's personal decision.

    @Kevin –

    Wow you express the same hatred towards Americans like the rest of the world. How many Americans do you personally know? I feel sorry for you that you make generalizations about others such as you do and find it funny you criticize an entire group of people from the comforts of the anonymous Internet. What's your address? Post that here if you are brave enough to stand behind your American bashing ways without anonymity.
